ATT: JOE GURRERI

I have enclosed a copy of the letter that I have sent to the Judges of Election that is part of this correspondence.

It is in regards to the questions that I have raised on the upcoming election in Local 607.

Perhaps you can clarify some of the issues that I have raised in my letter.

I also would like some clarification in regards to a situation that occurred at the nomination meeting.

Two of our members were nominated to their positions as President and Recording Secretary. After all the positions were filled there were two positions left for delegate. At that time the Business Manager nominated the same members for the delegate positions there were no other candidates for those positions.

My question is if this is not a combined position that has been approved by the General Executive Board.

Is a nominated member allowed to run for more than one position on the Executive Board of the Local Union?

At this time I would also like to indicate that I have been approved by the Judges of Election to run in this Election.

Also at the last General Meeting of Local 607 which occurred on April, 14, 1998 I also would like to state that I am on the record that I was opposed to the ballot box election for reasons that I have submitted to the Judges of Election which is enclosed in this correspondence.

The next general meeting is set for May 12, 1998 the Election date will be set then I hope that you can respond in kind hopefully by fax. Thank You

Yours, Truly

I am writing this letter to indicate to the Judges of Election that I am requesting a list of the membership of Local Union 607. So that I may solicit the membership in the upcoming Election.

This list should contain the names and addresses of the members.

At this time I would also like to indicate that I am opposed to any soliciting at any of the polling stations by any members of our Local Union 607.

I would also like to put on the record that I am opposed to a ballot box election and would prefer a mail out ballot.

I would like to also indicate that not all the members going to work on the upcoming Mainline Pipeline job are close to a polling station and that all of the members cannot be accommodated by a ballot box election.

Sealed mail out ballots can be delivered to the job and the members may mail them at their own convenience.

I would also like to indicate that it is a real chore for some of our members in rural areas to make it to a polling station.

If the intention of the upcoming election is to get as many members to vote as possible we should make it convenient for them.

The will of the membership shall prevail.

Yours, Truly

Dear Brother Coia,

I am writing this letter in response to a conversation that I had with Mr. Joe Guerrieri It is in regards to questions that I have raised on the up coming Election in the Local Union 607.

Perhaps you can clarify some of the issues that I have raised.

I am attaching all of the correspondence that I have given to Mr. Joe Geurrieri and to the Local Union 607 with this letter.

I am appealing to you to grant me and all the other candidates in this election a mail out ballot that may be done in the same fashion as the General Election.

So that all members may participate in the upcoming Election.

At this time I would also like to indicate that the area that we serve is approximately 1000 miles across the Northwestern

Region of Ontario. For reasons I have stated in my letters I hope that you understand the situation.

At the present time I would also like to indicate that I am nominated to run for Business Manager of Local Union 607.

Having gone before the Judges of Election today is the General Meeting and I am going to find out when the Election date is set for. I hope you can respond in kind by fax because of the time constraints. Thank You

Your, Truly

In response to the letter I am signing for candidate in the upcoming Election in Local 607. I am in agreement to all of the terms and conditions.

At this time I am asking for clarification in regards to Section: 4 in the agreement.

Please indicate to me on a per unit basis in approximate figures as to the cost that I will incur.

In assuming that this section applies it also states that the costs must be fixed.

The following section reads as follows:

(i) Each member shall pay to his Local Union such initiation fee, dues, and other lawful fees assessments as are fixed and established to constitutional authority.

I would like this letter to be part of the agreement:

I would like this estimate before I come to the LIUNA Local Union 607 with my mail-out envelopes which will be on Thursday, May 21, 1998 at 9:00 am.

At this time I am also requesting to inspect the list to see how many members are in good standing that are eligible to vote in the upcoming Election.

I would also like to indicate that I would like the receipt of how many ballots are being printed and who will be storing the excess ballots.

Yours, Truly
