Racketeers Sentenced

October 15, 1987

Two Colombo crime family members were sentenced for racketeering, bribery and extortion in the city's concrete construction industry.

Ralph Scopo, former president of the Cement and Concrete Workers District Council, Laborers International Union, was given a 15-year sentence to run concurrently with a 100-year term he received in January for his conviction in the trial of eight Mafia leaders accused of conspiring to form a mob "commission."

Dominic (Donny Shacks) Montemarano was given an 18-year sentence.
